Latham Centers Inc. Medical Assistant in Yarmouth Port, Massachusetts

As a Medical Assistant, you will be working with a dynamic nursing team to support health promotion of individuals with developmental disabilities & a rare genetic disease. Central office location is in Yarmouth Port & agency vehicle is provided to transport the individuals to the medical appointments. You will provide healthcare support to individuals, complete agency documentation requirements, vital signs, & direct care as required. Medical background &/or experience working with a special needs population preferred. Requirements include High School Diploma or GED, valid driver\'s license. Calm & neutral temperament with ability to handle individuals with a developmental disability safely & with compassion. Will attain MAP certification for medication administration. \$20.49 per hour (\$21.60 per hour with CNA certification) Latham provides a paid two-week Orientation program for all new employees upon hire. He or she must have the ability to handle individuals in crisis safely, with compassion. Mon- Fri, 8am-4pm, 40 hours. ***If you pick up shifts between the hours of 7am Saturday through 6:59am Monday there is a weekend differential of \$3.00 per hour for hours worked! *** Key Responsibilities: Transport individuals to medical, psychiatric, & dental appointments. Complete all pre & post appointment paperwork. Coordinate appointment transport & follow-up with Adult Services nursing staff, residential supervisors, & community medical professionals. Document data & pertinent information from appointments into the EMR. Document, transport, &/or administer medications in accordance with MAP regulations as needed. Attend Adult Services nursing team meetings & other agency meetings & trainings as applicable. Meet on a regular basis with the Adult Services Manager/Assistant Manager. Other duties as assigned by supervisor. Any work assigned shall be related to the employee?s normal duties, except for occasional emergencies. Key Qualities: Ability to understand the medical implications of Prader-Willi Syndrome. Commitment to the agency mission. Cooperation, teamwork, & positive attitude towards one?s work while collaborating with the nursing department, direct staff/management team, families, & other stakeholders. Ability to work with individuals with developmental disabilities & unique medical needs. Ability to set clear limits & personal & professional boundaries. Ability to model respectful & positive interactions for the individuals living at Latham Centers. Attention to detail when documenting medical appointments. Respect for persons of different abilities, backgrounds, & skills. Must be capable of dealing with periodic cyclical workload pressures & levels of responsibility. Must have the adaptability to perform a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another of a different nature without loss of efficiency or composure. Fluent English speaking & writing skills, empathy & the ability to listen, good time management skills & professional appearance & demeanor are all required for this position.
