Open Sky Community Services is a human service agency that provides counseling services and treatment options to people diagnosed with a mental illness or developmental disability. The Individual & Family Flexible Support Services are designed to assist youth and their families who are DMH-eligible and DMH-referred, and living in Central Massachusetts or the Metro-West region. The goal is to support each youth's ability to navigate and function within the community and to enhance participation in age appropriate peer activities. Services focus on flexible, wraparound goals & plans that support each youth’s ongoing development of age appropriate social, emotional, academic and pre-vocational wellbeing.

A Therapeutic Support Specialist has the ability to partner with referred youth and their “chosen family” to develop strategies for addressing identified needs and to strengthen abilities and skills that enhance their overall well-being, enhance their family cohesion and to ensure that there is continuity of the Therapeutic Support Service approach with other services and that services are integrated and clinically coherent.
Specifically, the Therapeutic Support Specialist will:
Provide strengths based and resiliency building activities that support each youth. These activities include but are not limited to the following: social and recreational engagement; development and maintenance of friendships; maintaining personal boundaries; stress management, relaxation and mindfulness; daily living skills (i.e. money management, use of public transportation); secondary education/pre-vocational/career planning and preparations; strategies to prevent and address bullying of others and being bullied.
To collaborate and ensure the development and achievement of each youth’s treatment goals that lead to improved functioning in identified areas of their life.
To ensure transportation for youth and their family in a safe manner in matters related to service delivery.
To be adherent to the principles of Wraparound and its processes.
Organize, plan, facilitate or co-facilitate flexible support groups as assigned.
Associate’s degree with two years of experience working with youth with serious emotional disturbance or other emotional and mental challenges or
Bachelor’s degree in a human services field and one year experience working with youth with serious emotional disturbance or other emotional and mental challenges.
Minimum of a high school diploma or GED/HiSET.
Valid driver's license and vehicle.
Proficiency with Microsoft Suite, including Word.
CPR, First Aid, MAP (Medication Administration Program) certified or certifiable. Open Sky Community Services provides all required trainings.
