GeneralSummary: Performs phlebotomy functions and non-technical duties in areas including the hospital laboratory, outpatient and off-site services.

Perform blood draws competently and expediently with aslittle patient discomfort as possible
Identifythe patient by comparing patient information on the requisition to thepatient’s identification band before venipuncture is performed
Displaycourteous, professional manner towards patients, co-workers, nursing andmedical staff
Labeland record all test tubes, log procedures and file paperwork
Demonstrateknowledge of color top tube to use, volume of blood needed and testrequirements
Followstandard precautions at all times
Disposeall sharp instruments in a rigid sharp container
Cleanand supply venipuncture trays
Maintainclean work area
Ordersupplies as needed
Completeassigned duties efficiently and in a timely manner
Seekguidance and direction when necessary
Assistfront office and medical assistants in the office as directed
Education: High school diploma/GED required with completion of phlebotomy program
Certification : Phlebotomy (CPT) and CPR certification
Experience: Must have a minimum of one year of experience working as a phlebotomist in a physician office
Knowledge of phlebotomyprocedures and process.
Understanding ofdocumentation required for phlebotomy procedures.
Knowledge of thepurposes, organization, and policies of the local community's healthsystems sufficient to interact with other health care providers.
Knowledge of thepolicies and procedures of a clinic sufficient to provide effectivepatient care.
Skill in problemsolving.
