Community Healthlink Health Information Management Clerk in Worcester, Massachusetts

Come join a friendly and diverse team that provides quality care! Community Healthlink (CHL) is looking for a full-time (37.5 hrs/wk) Health Information Management Clerk at our Worcester site.

The Medical Records Department serves as the central repository for all patient individually identifiable information and protected health information, and is responsible for the preservation, accessing, and releasing of records in accordance with federal and state laws.

Work related travel reimbursement

  • Pull and forward discharged charts stored in the warehouse as requests come in

  • Purge warehouse records which are at or past the legal retention requirements in preparation for destruction

  • Close records as needed if the appropriate program has not already closed the records

  • Maintain the process for retrieval of discharged records in the Warehouse

  • Re-file charts returned to the Warehouse in the appropriate storage box

  • Scan all loose papers, including Correspondence, into the medical record of the appropriate program in a timely and accurate manner

  • Verify that requests for information from outside agencies, facilities, or persons are appropriately completed by the requester

  • Respond to appropriately completed requests for information from outside agencies, facilities and persons complying with Federal and

    State Regulations

  • Request copies of medical records from outside agencies

  • Answer phone calls resolving callers problem or forwarding the call to the appropriate person

  • Process incoming mail

  • Performs other job related duties

  • Respects diverse views and approaches, demonstrates Standards of Respect, and contributes to creating and maintaining an environment of professionalism, tolerance, civility and acceptance toward all employees, patients and visitors.

  • MUST have 2 years of exposure in a Health Information Management Department.

  • Excellent computer skills including Word, Excel and a background in using an electronic health record system.

  • Minimum of a High School Diploma/ GED or HiSet Required.

  • Associate degree in Business Administration, Health Information Management or a relevant field is preferred.

  • Certification as a Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) by the American Health Information Management Association is highly desirable

  • Current valid US-issued driver's license and ability to provide a registered, inspected and insured automobile for work related purposes including travel between work sites

  • Must be able to pass a CORI background check
