State of Massachusetts Facility Service Worker IV (Housekeeping Supervisor) in Worcester, Massachusetts

The Worcester Recovery Center and Hospital is seeking a Facility Service Worker IV to work under the general supervision of the Manager of Environmental Services. The FSW IV is responsible for evaluating the work of employees engaged in general housekeeping tasks in a state psychiatric hospital. Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  1. Reviews special work assignments of individuals, or project crews.

  2. Establish daily work schedules for special and routine assignments.

  3. Inspect work while in progress land upon completion. Leads and works with learning crew in housekeeping services, patients’ wards, offices and throughout the hospital.

  4. Inspect equipment to determine need for parts, repairs, or replacement.

  5. Recommends new equipment, policies and procedures, work methods, and supplies.

  6. Maintains up to date record on work activity and prepares reports as required.

  7. Trains new employees by demonstrating use of cleaning, material and equipment safety measures.

  8. Arranges and participates in In-Service training for housekeeping staff.

  9. Assures that all areas are properly staffed in the event of absences and arranges for temporary replacements.

  10. Responsible for assisting with time approval.

  11. Covers for Manager of Environmental Services in his absence.

  12. Must have skill in using housekeeping equipment.

  13. Must have considerable housekeeping experience and use of allied equipment.

  14. Meets on a regularly scheduled basis with unit managers and takes indicated corrective actions.

  15. Attends all staff conferences and meetings pertaining to housekeeping services in the absence of the Manager of Environmental Services.

  16. Other duties as assigned.

  • PLEASE NOTE: * This position is full-time, 40 hours per week, 11:00 pm - 7:30 am. Days off are Friday and Saturday.

_Preferred Qualifications:_

  • Demonstrated language skills that allow for two-way communication, effective patient service, coordination with other members of the patient care team.

  • Given the population served, bilingual or multilingual fluency.

_About Worcester Recovery Center and Hospital (WRCH):_

Located on over 100 acres in Worcester, Massachusetts, Worcester Recovery Center and Hospital (WRCH) is part of an integrated network of effective, efficient and culturally competent mental health services. It provides intermediate and long-term inpatient care for individuals with serious and persistent mental illness who live in Massachusetts, as well as individuals requiring specialized court ordered evaluations.

WRCH provides inpatient services to 260 inpatient adults, inclusive of a Deaf Inpatient Mental Health Service; 30 inpatient adolescents and 30 residential adolescents, in either an Intensive Residential Treatment Program (IRTP) or a Behavioral Intensive Residential Treatment Program (BIRT).

Minimum Entrance Requirements:

Applicants must have at least two years of full-time, or equivalent part-time experience in building custodial or institutional housekeeping work and (B) of which at least one year must have been in a supervisory capacity.
