We are currently hiring a Dental Assistant II based in Worcester. To assist and collaborate with dental providers in the delivery of dental care and to perform a variety of clinical and clerical tasks under the supervision of the dental providers, applying the principles of aseptic techniques and infection control. The Dental Assistant II is described as experienced in the field, usually accompanied by more than one year of experience in chair side assisting and possessing radiology certification and CPR certification. The Dental Assistant II will be expected to have a comprehensive framework of experience.

Essential Functions:

  • Verifies patient markers to determine that the correct patient is present for the dental appointment/procedure.

  • Expertly exposes and processes radiographs including panoramic radiographs, with excellent diagnostic quality.

  •  Expertly prepares the dental treatment room prior to each procedure with a thorough knowledge in instrument and material selection based on the procedure   with little to no prompting from the dentist, with full compliance in infection control protocols and guidelines.

  • Processes instruments, including disinfection, sterilization, and monitoring of sterilization dates.

  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of the sterilization process including, but not limited to, recording sterilization measurements and logging upon completion of a sterilization cycle and scanning to the production drive, and spore testing to confirm the sterilization process.

  • Understands how to set up and use the dental equipment in the department for each procedure and how to properly maintain the equipment, according to manufacturer’s guidelines, and performs maintenance according to schedules set up by the Dental Department.

  • Maintains the log/schedule for dental office equipment maintenance according to the protocols set up in the Dental Department and participates in the timely maintenance of this equipment on a daily, weekly, or biweekly schedule depending on the parameters set up by the department.

    Education and Experience

  • High School diploma

  • Has updated documentation and certification for:

  • CPR

  • Radiology certificate

  • OSHA/Infection control training

  • MA state dental assistant license

  • Has met all continuing education requirements for dental licensure.

  • One year plus of dental assisting experience
