Contributes to the Hospital’s mission to care, to heal, and to excel in service to our community by being responsible and accountable for the shift operations of the Central Materials Services department. Develops and promotes collaborative and collegial relationships with CMS and throughout the hospital. Also serves the dual role of ensuring that all supplies and equipment needed for patient care is clean and sterile for use. This lead clinical-support staff position will have an impact on reducing patient harm by reducing the chance of infection and on physician satisfaction by providing the appropriate and accurate equipment and supplies based on physician preferences and requests, to streamline surgical procedures. This position will also impact employee satisfaction by ensuring the shift operates like that of an employer of choice.

Job Description:

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education

Required

High School Diploma or equivalent

Preferred

Graduate of a Sterilization Technician program

Experience

Required

Surgical Instrumentation/Equipment experience

Preferred

Three years of Central Services Head Technician or equivalent supervisory position

Other Skills/Knowledge

Required

  • For safety and quality reasons, must be able to read, write and communicate effectively in English with fellow members of the hospital team

Preferred

  • Surgical Instrumentation / equipment experience preferred

  • Computer experience related to an Operating Room Schedule for case cart processing, Instrument and Inventory Management

Certification as a Registered Central Service Technician (C.R.C.S.T.)

On-call: Weekend and holiday call rotation required.
