Citizens First Line Risk Sr Manager - Commercial Risk Control Program Lead in Westwood, Massachusetts

As the First Line Risk Senior Manager, you will support Commercial front line risk’s adherence to internal control assessment and RCSA guidelines providing value added recommendations focused on quality and efficiency. Further, you will represent the first line of defense and identify and mitigate potential risks through the identification, management, and mitigation of the risk and controls environment in support of Community Development and Community Reinvestment Act. You will serve as a liaison, interfacing with business partners to drive meaningful reductions in risk. You will provide and direct complex analysis on product and customer strategies to establish risk thresholds. While in this role, you will be responsible for proactively reviewing, analyzing, and identifying emerging risks, escalating to the Senior Director/Director of First Line Risk where appropriate. You will work with the Senior Director/Director to adhere to internal governance processes and controls for existing and new risk strategies and provide suggestion for remediation. You will lead change control efforts to ensure impacts are appropriately assessed, documented, and implemented. You will work closely with Compliance officers to ensure that your team is up to date and in compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements. You will play a key role in determining how compliance matters are handled. You will also work with the First Line Risk Managers to initiate investigations into control failures and related issues. Additionally, this role will have some oversight of pilot programs, products, and strategies. Primary responsibilities include

  • Execute identification, measurement, and mitigation of material risks in the organization.

  • Support various business line projects to address specific risk issues, working with business leaders to analyze and quantify risks, assess solutions or mitigation activities, and develop remediation plans.

  • Act as a control assessment subject matter resource for audits, regulatory exams and compliance topics while providing guidance and support to internal colleagues.

  • Lead control assessment development, professional staff training opportunities and early talent identification activities to meet team, department, and organizational goals to ensure strong risk and control environments.

  • Drive centralized risk and control management strategies, compliance with Control Assessment Guidelines and Frontline Control Assessment Procedures, while promoting continuous monitoring to support real time monitoring of risk and control environments.

  • Collaborate and communicate with business and risk manager stakeholders, management, and partners to provide recommendations and guidance with support in implementing changes, improving internal controls, and enhancing operational efficiency.

  • Execute risk and control self-assessments (RCSA), Issue remediation, prepare bank examiner responses and control assessments for Community Development and Community Reinvestment Act

  • Act as the Commercial Risk Management Program Lead for control assessments across the division

    Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 8 years’ experience in Risk Management, Audit, or Compliance

  • Experience with Community Development and Community Reinvestment Act regulations and familiarity with OCC Comptroller's Handbook, CRA Examination Procedures

  • Prior experience implementing and supporting enterprise-wide Risk programs

  • Experience with Governance, Risk Management, and Compliance (GRC) platforms

  • Knowledge and understanding of regulatory and legislative guidelines

  • Extensive experience managing projects including planning, implementation, and reporting

  • Demonstrated interpersonal relationship building and team facilitation skills

  • Experience preparing, presenting, and distributing risk or control results to various levels of management and stakeholders across an organization.

    Education, Certifications and/or Other Professional Credentials:

  • BA/BS degree required.

  • CRA Certified Professional (CRACP), Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager (CRCM), Financial Risk Manager (FRM) or equivalent certification

    Hours & Work Schedule:

    Hours per Week: 40

    Work Schedule: M-F 8-5

    Hybrid - 3 days in the office, 2 working from home

    Pay Transparency:

    The salary range for this position is $112,064 - $140,000 per year, plus an opportunity to earn an annual discretionary bonus. Actual pay is based on various factors including but not limited to the work location, and relevant skills and experience.
