State of Massachusetts EVS Hospital Cleaner in Westfield, Massachusetts

Western Massachusetts Hospital (WMH) under the Massachusetts Department of Public Health (DPH), located in Westfield MA is currently hiring for the position of Facility Service Worker II - Housekeeping. WMH is a 100-bed long term medical and specialty care hospital owned and operated by the Department of Public Health (DPH). _Please Note_:The position is 1stshift, 6:30am - 3:00pm with days off being Tuesdays and Wednesdays. _Duties and Responsibilities (these duties are a general summary and not all inclusive):_ * Performs day-to-day housekeeping services to the main hospital and other buildings on campus to ensure a clean, attractive facility in accordance with all applicable laws, regulations, and standards. * Sweeps, vacuums, and washes floors, using appropriate equipment and supplies to maintain the cleanliness and appearance of the hospital. * Dusts, polishes and washes interior surfaces such as windows furniture, walls, ceilings, etc., using appropriate supplies and equipment in order to maintain building in a clean and orderly condition. * Prepares beds after washing using appropriate linen supplies and removes/hangs window draperies and bedside curtains as needed. * Cleans toilets, lavatories, washrooms, mop closets, etc., using appropriate supplies and equipment in order to maintain the appearance and cleanliness of such areas. * Distributes clean linen to patient care and ancillary departments. * Empties and relines trash receptacles, paying particular attention to the safe and proper handling of hazardous waste. * Collects soiled linen to aid in the operation of the laundry function. * Performs lifting and moving activities such as stocking oxygen tanks and furniture * Arranges and prepares conference rooms, patient care units and other designated areas as needed. _Required Qualifications:_ * Demonstrated ability to follow oral and written instructions/directions. * Talent for establishing and maintaining harmonious working relationships and deal tactfully with others. * Ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods of time and lift/carry heavy objects. _Preferred Qualifications:_ * Prior cleaning, custodial, housekeeping experience. * Demonstrated language skills that allow for two-way communication, effective patient service, coordination with other members of the patient care team. * Capacity to establish procedures, policies and organizational standards, and the safe use of cleaning agents and equipment. /_About Western MA Hospital:_/ The Western Massachusetts Hospital is the only public hospital operating in the western region of Massachusetts with a mission to serve as a medical safety net for many uninsured and under-insured citizens residing in the region.
