Brandeis University seeks to hire a Registered Nurse. This person applies the nursing process in provision of direct care under standing orders. Works closely with multilevel team at Brandeis Health Center to develop and coordinate a plan of care to meet the needs of patients and their families. Provides program support services to optimize health services access and to optimize both preventative health and episodic health outcomes. This position is part time, 28 hours a week, during the academic year. Direct patient care: Provides assessment, planning, education, and referral support related to plans of care for patients and families. Provides direct care for patients under standing orders for specific defined visits or to monitor the ongoing care of a resting patient under the care of another clinician. Provides education and support for students regarding self-care as well as navigation of health systems. Approximate of time spent: 35% Works in a collaborative relationship with multilevel staff of the Health Center to determine and meet the customer needs of patients, families, and the University community. Provides support for patients and clinical providers in accessing and coordinating follow-up needs and care between providers such as but not exclusive to assisting with follow-up contact and scheduling as needed, coordinating with primary care providers as needed, supporting specialty referrals, and assisting to coordinate external laboratory and imaging services as needed. Approximate of time spent: 35% Supports implementation of defined quality assurance standards, including but not limited to, vaccine operating standards, CLIA waived laboratory processes, phlebotomy and specimen collection, and autoclave. Supports medical and pharmaceutical supply monitoring. Supports the durable medical goods loan program ensuring that supplies are cleaned appropriately and functioning safely as well as monitoring the pharmacy delivery service to ensure pick-ups and returns in a timely manner. Approximate of time spent: 15% Provides first call telephone triage for patient advice and emergent health concerns on a 1:4 rotation covering hours when Brandeis Health Center is closed over 36 weeks of the school year. Approximate of time spent: 10% Professional Development: Participates in team meetings, peer and qualitative reviews as assigned, staff development programs as assigned and maintains professional licenses and certifications. Approximate of time spent: 5% Qualifications: Educational Requirement: Master's degree required in Nursing.
