State of Massachusetts Hospital Cleaner Days (Facility Service Worker II) in Tewksbury, Massachusetts

Tewksbury Hospital under the Department of Public Health (DPH), a 370 bed Joint Commission accredited hospital, is currently hiring for the position of Hospital Cleaner (Facility Service Worker II). The hospital provides comprehensive treatment, care, and comfort to adults with medical and/or mental illnesses. Please Note: This position is 40 hours per week, working First shift (7:00am – 3:30pm). Days off vary and will be discussed during the interview process. _Duties and Responsibilities (these duties are a general summary and not all inclusive):_ * Performs day-to-day housekeeping services to the main hospital and other buildings on campus to ensure a clean, attractive facility in accordance with all applicable laws, regulations, and standards. * Sweeps, vacuums, and washes floors, using appropriate equipment and supplies to maintain the cleanliness and appearance of the hospital. * Dusts, polishes and washes interior surfaces such as windows furniture, walls, ceilings, etc., using appropriate supplies and equipment in order to maintain building in a clean and orderly condition. * Prepares beds after washing using appropriate linen supplies and removes/hangs window draperies and bedside curtains as needed. * Cleans toilets, lavatories, washrooms, mop closets, etc., using appropriate supplies and equipment in order to maintain the appearance and cleanliness of such areas. * Distributes clean linen to patient care and ancillary departments. * Empties and relines trash receptacles, paying particular attention to the safe and proper handling of hazardous waste. * Collects soiled linen to aid in the operation of the laundry function. * Performs lifting and moving activities such as stocking oxygen tanks and furniture * Arranges and prepares conference rooms, patient care units and other designated areas as needed. _Required Qualifications:_ * Demonstrated ability to follow oral and written instructions/directions. * Talent for establishing and maintaining harmonious working relationships and deal tactfully with others. * Ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods of time and lift/carry heavy objects. _Preferred Qualifications:_ * Demonstrated language skills that allow for two-way communication, effective patient service, coordination with other members of the patient care team. * Prior experience providing cleaning/housekeeping services. _About Tewksbury Hospital:_ Tewksbury Hospital offers a broad range of services including a physician on site at all times, around-the-clock nursing care, rehabilitation services including physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy, psychology services, social services, nutritional services, and an on-site dialysis clinic. _Total Compensation:_ As an employee of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts you are offered a great career opportunity influencing a wide-spectrum of services to the diverse populations we serve - but it's more than a paycheck.
