Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical RN - LPN Staff Nurse Description: Assist Unit/Shift Supervisor in planning, organizing, developing, and directing the nursing unit activities in accordance with federal, state, and other health care agency rules and regulations. Assist Supervisors in upholding the policies of the Nursing Dept. and those of the facility to achieve a comfortable and homelike atmosphere for the residents. Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical RN - LPN Staff Nurse Responsibilities: Assist Unit/Shift Supervisor in problem identification and development of correction plans. Check all ill residents early in the shift, make periodic assessments, report changes to appropriate personnel, make appropriate interventions and document these in Medical Record. Assess resident care needs and utilize this knowledge to contribute to Minimum Data Set, Resident Assessment protocols and Interdisciplinary care plans. Report changes in resident condition to Supervisor, attending physician/NP and families as necessary and document in Medical Record. See that all required documentation is correct, reflects need and is up-to-date. Administer and record prescribed medications and treatments. Assess residents on admission and initiate interim care plan. Assist in evaluating ancillary personnel. Interpret policies/procedures to ancillary staff, residents, families, and visitors. Uphold Infections Control policies/practices and those of the Quality Assurance & Improvement Committee. Delegate duties appropriately and supervise unlicensed assistive personnel. Render emergency care as needed, report to supervisor, submit complete, accurate, and timely incident reports as necessary. Conform to pharmacy policies, which include: maintenance of accurate narcotic book documentation and count, drug security, syringe count, order and receive medication and treatment supplies and document. Follow other established pharmacy policies and procedures. Assist in maintaining Medical Records. Communicate with family members/responsible parties when necessary concerning resident?s condition. Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical RN - LPN Staff Nurse Education: Graduate of an accredited nursing program Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical RN - LPN Staff Nurse Experience: Nursing Home: 1 year (Preferred). Must be able to supervise ancillary staff and delegate duties to unlicensed assistive personnel that are within their capability.
