DDS is announcing the availability of a full-time Licensed Practical Nurse II (LPN II) position located in Taunton, MA for Southeastern Residential Services (SRS). This position will work in a home requiring specialized training. Staff in these assignments will receive a differential of $3.25 for each hour worked at this location. In addition to the standard duties of a Licensed Practical Nurse II staff applying for this assignment will be required to successfully complete specialized training which will include an enhanced Non-Violent management of Aggressive Behavior (NVMAB) training, which will be very physical in nature. Current NVMAB trained staff will still need to complete this enhanced training. Selected staff that are unable to complete the training will be ineligible for the assignment. The assignment will be open to all LPN I’s and LPN II’s within SRS. Interested candidates are subject to an interview process. Current LPN II’s are welcome to apply.

Duties required of LPN’s include the provision of direct nursing and personal care services to individuals with developmental disabilities in community homes, including: dispensing of medications, observation and recording of resident medical conditions and behaviors, crisis intervention, scheduling of medical appointments/evaluations/conferences, record maintenance and recreational/leisure/housekeeping activities.

Current and valid driver's license is required. Must be able to complete all job duties including the ability to physically assist and lift individual.

Schedule Information:

Full-Time – 40 hour weekly position on 3rd shift

Working: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday – 11:00PM to 7:00AM

Days off: Sunday and Monday

This position is designated as an “EMERGENCY” Position in the Department of Developmental Service’s Emergency Plan. This means that whenever the Governor declares that the Commonwealth is in a state of emergency, you will be required to report to work.

“This position is in a program that operates 24 hours a day 7 days a week. The Department of Developmental Services requires employees in this position to be able to perform mandatory overtime when circumstances dictate the need.”

MINIMUM ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS

Applicants must have at least one year of paraprofessional experience in the field of nursing as a licensed practical nurse.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Possession of a current and valid license as a practical nurse under the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing.
