Summary of Responsibility
The Wound Care Registered Nurse is a registered nurse who provides expert clinical consultation, care and education to nurses, patients and families and the health care team in the areas of wound and skin care.
S/he is responsible for facilitating the delivery of quality, multidisciplinary, cost-effective wound care and specializes in the prevention and treatment of pressure ulcers and wound management.
Registered to practice nursing in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
Bachelor of Science or Associates degree in nursing required.
Graduate of a nationally recognized, accredited wound care certification program required. WOCN certification preferred.
Maintains active and ongoing certification from a nationally recognized, accredited wound care certification program.
Three years experience in clinical nursing experience in long term acute care and/or acute care nursing with progressive leadership responsibilities.
Commitment to interdisciplinary care management and continuous performance improvement.
Ability to form collegial and collaborative relationships.
Demonstrated ability in written and verbal communication.
Active participation in continuing education and professional activities.
Proficiency in computer applications i.e. Word, Excel and PowerPoint and ability to transfer knowledge base to clinical applications used in the hospital environment.
