Summary of Responsibility

The Wound Care Registered Nurse is a registered nurse who provides expert clinical consultation, care and education to nurses, patients and families and the health care team in the areas of wound and skin care.

S/he is responsible for facilitating the delivery of quality, multidisciplinary, cost-effective wound care and specializes in the prevention and treatment of pressure ulcers and wound management.


  • Registered to practice nursing in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

  • Bachelor of Science or Associates degree in nursing required.

  • Graduate of a nationally recognized, accredited wound care certification program required. WOCN certification preferred.

  • Maintains active and ongoing certification from a nationally recognized, accredited wound care certification program.

  • Three years experience in clinical nursing experience in long term acute care and/or acute care nursing with progressive leadership responsibilities.

  • Commitment to interdisciplinary care management and continuous performance improvement.

  • Ability to form collegial and collaborative relationships.

  • Demonstrated ability in written and verbal communication.

  • Active participation in continuing education and professional activities.

  • Proficiency in computer applications i.e. Word, Excel and PowerPoint and ability to transfer knowledge base to clinical applications used in the hospital environment.
