Baystate Health RN Oncology Practice Nurse - Cancer Services in Springfield, Massachusetts
PRACTICE OFFICE-ONCOLOGY NURSE for the Medical Hematology / Oncology Clinic- The practice nurse in the clinic acts as a link between patients and care providers to assist patients/families/caregivers and facilitate patient care.
Works closely with physician, infusion staff, clinic staff, radiation staff, and other disciplines and/or external resources to coordinate patient care and follow patient throughout the care continuum. Manages telephone calls from patients and families: triages patient calls, assesses the clinical problem, and implements a plan related to patient need. Facilitates referrals to appropriate disciplines or services (internally or externally), including but not limited to home care services and transitions to palliative care or hospice in collaboration with the cancer care team.
RN provides to support the practice office and physicians
Responsible for phone triage, symptom management, and overall coordination of care.
Required Work Experience:
MA RN License, BSN and CPR required
OCN Certification required to be obtained within 2 years of being hired
3 years of acute care nursing experience required
Oncology experience and knowledge of oncology care, protocols is required
Other Information
Full Time, 36 hours working 4- 9 hours shifts Monday -Friday

Education:
Bachelor of Science: Nursing, Diploma in Nursing (Required)
Certifications:
Advanced Cardiac Life Support - American Heart Association, Basic Life Support - American Heart Association, Oncology Certified Nurse - Oncology Nursing Society/Oncology Nursing Certification Corporation, PALS & ACLS required for PACU - other, Pediatric Advanced Life Support - Other, Registered Nurse - State of Massachusetts
