Lead CNA (Sign-on Bonus) Loomis Lakeside at Reeds Landing Springfield, MA Two Full Time Positions 7am to 3pm and 3pm to 11pm Summary Description: Serves as the lead CNA in addition to providing nursing care to residents of the Loomis Nursing Center. Work alongside licensed nurses to directly impact our residents' quality of life by assisting with their activities of daily living (ADLs). You will also ensure that our residents and their families receive the highest quality of service in a caring and compassionate atmosphere which recognizes the individual residents' needs and rights. This includes organizing and orienting current and new CNAs in accordance with current Federal, State, and local regulations and facility policies and procedures, under direction of nursing staff. Essential Functions: 1. Performs job functions in a manner consistent with the mission and goals of The Loomis Communities. Adheres to The Loomis Communities Compliance and Ethics Program Demonstrates an awareness of, a respect for and attention to the diversity of the people with whom they interact (persons served, personnel, families/caregivers, and other stakeholders) that is reflected in attitudes, behavior and services. Complies with all CARF/CCAC guidelines and standards. 2. Complies with residents' rights and confidentiality. Complies with safety regulations, infection control, and universal precaution procedures at all times. Provides accurate and timely documentation in the EMR and other systems as required and/or as assigned by supervisor. 3. Collaborates with members of the Interdisciplinary Team to assure appropriateness and continuity of care. Participates in the care planning process including attending care plan meetings and updating care cards and care plans. Participates in meetings and activities such as Resident council, behavior rounds, rehabilitation team meetings, interdisciplinary team meetings and other committee meetings as assigned. Assists dentist, eye doctor, etc. when they are in the Health Center treating residents. Informs CNAs of any changes that may have occurred such as care card updates. Interacts with other departments and resident families to improve resident care and quality of life and resolve issues or problems. 4. Performs direct care CNA duties as necessary to provide quality care to Health Center residents. Gives report to the Nurse or designated charge person at the end of the shift. Reports any changes to the Nurse or designated charge person immediately. Supervise, assist or provide showers and baths. Supervise, assist residents to dress/undress. Assure the cleanliness and dignity of each resident. 5. Assists with meal and snack preparation, serving, feeding as needed, and clean-up. Posts meal percentage sheets and updates them as needed. Rearranges the dining room seating plan as needed. Monitors resident weight and ensures that they are complete and accurate. Supervising others to insure all documentation is completed by the end of the shift. 6. Participates in the interview process of prospective new-hire CNAs along with other team members. Assists in orienting newly hired certified nursing assistants. Actively participates in distribution of work to ensure care needs of residents and site tasks are completed timely and appropriately including but not limited to community-based care and center-based tasks, as assigned. Qualifications: Preferred Education High School Diploma or GED Equivalent Preferred Experience 5 Years Prior experience in a skilled nursing or assisted living community is preferred Previous experience working with people with dementia is desired License(s) Required Must have current Massachusetts Nurse Aide Certification. Must be certified in Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).
