Mercy Medical Center is looking for Graduate Registered Nurses for our Graduate Nurse Residency Program . The 12-month Nurse Residency Program at Mercy Medical Center in Springfield, MA provides a comprehensive infrastructure in accordance with ANCC PTAP™ guidelines* to expand the knowledge, skills and attitudes required of a nurse to move from entry-level competence toward proficiency and expertise.

Requirements:

  • Projected to graduate (or already graduated) from a accredited College/University

  • Have less than12 months of RN experience or is a new graduate nurse.

  • Possess a valid Massachusetts RN license or

  • If you are a new graduate nurse, you must possess your RN license number the Monday before the Hospital Orientation start date.

  • All candidates will submit a current resume, with your cover letter attached, outlining relevant clinical and work experience, as well as if you are achieving a higher degree.

  • The cover letter should state you are a nurse resident, the number of months you have been practicing as an RN (should be less than 12) and your professional short- and long-term goals.

The Nurse Residency Program goals support the Nurse Resident to:

  • Transition successfully to a competent practitioner

  • Enhance the ability to provide quality, evidence-based care.

  • Advance critical thinking ability

  • Improve skills in clinical decision-making.

  • Become engaged as an entry level nurse leader at Mercy Medical Center.

  • During the program, residents will find a mixture of computer-based and classroom-based learning, as well as state-of-the-art simulation learning. The program focuses on practice-based learning utilizing simulation and skills lab, quality and safety for people centered care, evidence-based practice with implementation of an evidence-based practice project, and professional development and leadership.
