Description:

Position Purpose

Using CT scans and sometimes MRI and PET scanners, Medical Dosimetrists design an individualized plan of treatment for cancer patients who have been prescribed radiation therapy by their oncologist.

What you will do

  • Responsible for producing external beam and prostate seed implant treatment plans for patients either by use of isodose charts or treatment planning computer while adhering to policies and procedures.

  • Calculates dosage for interstitial or intracavitary implants using radionuclides. Assists in periodic calibrations of therapy machines. Assumes responsibilities under the direction of the Sr Medical Physicist.

  • Consults with Radiation Oncologist and Medical Physicist to determine objectives of each patient’s treatment plan.

  • Performs accurate medical and computer dose calculations, generating dose distributions that deliver the prescribed radiation dose to the prescribed tumor volume.

  • Coordinates treatment simulation and tumor localizations. Obtains accurate patient measurements for dose calculations.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Education : A.S. degree in Radiation Therapy required, B.S. degree candidates are preferable. Prior Pinnacle experience is an advantage but not required.

  • Experience : Two years as a Dosimetrist preferred

  • Certification: (CMD) and or board eligible within six months.
