Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Accounting Assistant to join our dynamic accounting team. The successful candidate will assist with a variety of accounting tasks including journal entries, accounts payable, accounts receivable, collections, bank reconciliations, and payroll processing. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, a keen attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Journal Entries: Assist in preparing, recording, and posting journal entries to ensure accurate financial records.
Accounts Payable: Process and review invoices, ensure proper coding, and manage vendor payments in accordance with company policies.
Accounts Receivable: Process customer payments, maintain aging reports, and assist in resolving discrepancies or billing issues.
Collections: Communicate with customers to ensure timely payment, follow up on overdue accounts, and assist in implementing collection strategies.
Bank Reconciliations: Perform monthly bank reconciliations, ensuring all discrepancies are addressed promptly.
Payroll Processing: Assist with payroll data entry, timekeeping, and ensuring accurate deductions and benefits processing.
General Administrative Support: Provide support for accounting projects, assist with month-end and year-end closing processes, and maintain organized records.
Compliance and Reporting: Ensure compliance with company policies and assist in preparing financial reports as needed.
Qualifications:
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
1-3 years of experience in an accounting or finance role, preferably in a midsized business or corporate setting.
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, Sage, etc.).
Strong understanding of basic accounting principles and practices.
Excellent attention to detail and ability to work with numbers accurately.
Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines.
Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with team members and other departments.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive financial information.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with payroll processing and understanding of payroll taxes.
Knowledge of general ledger processes, month-end close, and financial reporting.
Experience in using ERP or accounting software.
Working Environment:
Full-time in person position, Monday to Friday.
