Manville is a therapeutic day school serving students with social-emotional, behavioral, and learning challenges from over fifty communities in the greater Boston area. We offer a comprehensive and integrated educational, clinical, and behavioral support program.
Manville offers a 20-day Summer Program for students (4 days a week for 5 weeks), from July 5th through August 3rd. There is also a 1-day Staff Orientation during the last week of June.
JOB OVERVIEW
Summer program mornings for students consist of academic support/enrichment to maintain skills utilizing theme-based curriculum as well as specialist led groups and/or activities. Afternoons consist of an electives program including art, gym, music, crafts, games, field trips, etc.
In the mornings, the Speech Language Therapist works with small classroom groups (7 - 9 students) providing weekly activities centered on pragmatic language with the addition of receptive and expressive language components. Students receive instruction on social communication skills such as nonverbal communication, perspective-taking, using a social filter, and observing the social landscape.
The Speech Language Therapist then facilitates a group activity to reinforce and help students apply learned skills in a more naturalistic setting.
