State of Massachusetts Licensed Practical Nurse II in Roslindale, Massachusetts

The Department of Developmental Services (DDS) Metro Residential Services is seeking a person with strong attributes in the Human Service field. Licensed Practical Nurse II's are responsible for the overall health services provided to individuals with intellectual disabilities. Distribution of medications, monitoring for effects; treatments, monitoring nutrition, ISP documentation, yearly health maintenance, make and attend appointments with residents, advocate with primary doctor and specialist. Must have good communication skills to work with direct care staff, workshops, service coordinators and families. LPN II's are considered part of coverage with the direct care. LPN II's will be responsible for providing some training. Performs other related duties as required. May be required to enter information into personal computer, comfortable with data entries.

Applicants must be flexible in schedule and have the ability to physically assist and lift individuals.

Comfortable with personal computers as data entries in HCSIS and Meditech along with email will be part of the responsibilities.

Days Off: Tuesday and Wednesday

All applicants must be able to pass a criminal offender record check, pre-employment medical exam, national finger printing as part of the hiring process. All applicants are required to have a valid driver's license.

This position is designated as an 'EMERGENCY' position in the Department of Developmental Services Emergency Plan. This means that whenever the Governor declares that the Commonwealth is in a state of emergency, you will be required to report to work.

This is a 24 hour/7 days a week staff position. The Department of Developmental Services requires employees in this position to be able to perform "MANDATORY OVERTIME" when circumstances dictate the need.

A criminal background check (CORI) will be completed on the recommended candidate as required by the regulations set forth by the Executive Office of Health and Human Services prior to the candidate being hired. In addition, Chapter 234 of the Acts of 2014, An Act Requiring National Background Checks, requires the Department of Developmental Services to conduct fingerprint-based check of the state and national criminal history databases on the recommended candidate. MINIMUM ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS

Applicants must have at least one year of paraprofessional experience in the field of nursing as a licensed practical nurse.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Possession of a current and valid license as a practical nurse under the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing.
