Lead Ophthalmic Technician in Quincy, Massachusetts

O phthalmic Consultants of Boston (OCB) was established in 1969 to offer patients the highest quality eye care and laser/surgical treatment. OCB recently joined forces with Eye Health Services to become the premier eye care provider in the region with nineteen practice locations in the greater Boston area and Cape Cod. We have an exciting opportunity for a full-time Lead Ophthalmic Technician in our Quincy, Milton, Dorchester and South Shore locations.

The Lead Technician assists with overseeing the day to day flow of the clinical services for Physicians and their clinical staff.  As an extension of the scope of practice of the Clinical Services Department, the lead satellite technician maybe responsible for helping to create weekly technician schedules, staffing recommendations, maintaining inventory and equipment for the locations.

Performance Requirements :

Skilled in exercising a high degree of initiative, judgment, discretion and decision making to achieve organizational objectives.  Knowledge of ophthalmic clinical practices, materials and procedures. Ability to communicate well both verbally and in writing to diverse populations.  Knowledge of the principles and practice of employee development sufficient to ensure organizational productivity.


  • COA / COT licensing preferred

  • Covid Vaccine; must provide Vaccination card prior to start

  • Three to five years of diverse Clinical Ophthalmic experience required.

Example of Duties:

  • Evaluates the daily schedule and utilization of MD/OD clinical exam lanes and makes recommendations to the Clinical Manager and Director of Clinical Services.

  • Reviews Clinical Supervisor’s weekly clinical staff schedule and makes recommendations to ensure highest level of utilization and productivity.

  • Works as a clinical technician at a senior level.

  • Assists the Training Assistant with technician development and training.

  • Maintains the clinical inventory of supplies and equipment so that smooth work flow is maintained.
