24hpw; 8-hr shifts (7a-3:30p, 7:30a-4p OR 8a-4:30p) ; rotating weekends & holidays

Job Description:

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Cleans, stocks, and readies the department for care for patients.

  • Orders equipment and supplies; maintains par levels of supplies

  • Maintains equipment and prepares for readiness.

  • Performs housekeeping duties as needed (i.e: emptying trash and linen).

  • Performs errands to other areas of the hospital.

  • Transports patients within the department and to in-hospital locations as needed.

  • Performs clinical functions, utilizes sterile technique when necessary, and obtains labs specimens, vital signs, and other tasks as needed.

  • Carries out tasks as directed by physicians, nurse director and nursing staff.

  • Maintenance of the medical records located on the nursing unit.

  • Unit receptionist responsibilities: telephone, visitor assistance, specimen delivery, phone calls, mail distribution.

  • Coordinates appointments with Central Scheduling.

  • Entry and reconciliation of infusion charges under direction of the nurse

  • Responsible for the performance of clerical duties on the nursing unit

Experience/Knowledge/Skills Required:

  • Possesses organizational and planning skills.

  • Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.

  • Ability to concentrate and prioritize in distracting environment.

  • Ability to work at a quick pace with minimal supervision.

  • Knowledge of ordering on Meditech 6.0

Education Required

  • Written and verbal English skills at 12th grade level.

  • Knowledge of basic patient care technical procedures.

  • Demonstrated computer skills.

Registration/Certification

  • AHA BLS certification (may be within 2 weeks of hire).

  • MA Certified Nurse Assistant License required.
