Jordan Hospital Supervisor, Hospital Volunteer Services in Plymouth, Massachusetts

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supervises and coordinates the daily activities of the department and all volunteer department employees and volunteers in conjunction with the department’s director.

  • Provides support to any patient experience initiatives including patient rounding

  • Assists with patient complaints, completes intakes and follows up on appropriate cases

  • Assists with administrative functions for Patient Relations (updating complaint/grievance log, tracks 7 day patient letters)

  • Schedules desk staff, volunteers, coordinating appropriate staffing levels as a result of sick calls, vacations, seasonal leaves, etc.

  • Ensures the daily office operations are efficient and well organized.

  • Primarily responsible for Junior Volunteer Program.

  • Oversees the Volunteer Department including advising, counseling and disciplining volunteer department employees and volunteers in the absence of the Volunteer Director.

  • Responsible for appropriate flow of information between all parties throughout the volunteer process from application to placement.

  • Utilizes strong interpersonal and communication skills in interactions with volunteers, staff, patients, visitors, general public, etc.

  • Maintains computer volunteer records, including health records, and ensures accuracy and completeness of information mandated by federal and state agencies.

  • Assist Director in interviewing applicants and have input as to placement or appropriateness of candidate.

  • Assist Director with Community Outreach Programs as well as hospital based programs and services.

  • May be required to perform similar or related duties reflective of the level of experience as may be necessary on an emergency, temporary or limited basis or as designated by Hospital leadership.

  • Provides routine desk coverage for South and Urann Lobbies as needed.

    Experience/Knowledge/Skills Required

  • A minimum of 1 year current experience is a supervisory role in a customer service industry required

  • Competent in Microsoft office products: Word/Excel/Outlook required

  • Must be able to perform a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another of a different nature, without loss of efficiency or composure, and be able to perform under stressful conditions when confronted with multiple requests, demonstrating prioritizing skills.

  • Enthusiastically approaches role and displays pride in the organization.

  • Ability to input data into the computer, and analyze data as requested.

  • Demonstrates attention to detail, strong organizational skills with ability to prioritize multiple tasks and to work independently.

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills. Able to communicate providing verbal feedback in a professional and respectful manner.

  • Must be adaptable and flexible in a culturally diverse population.

    Education Required

  • Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred. Associate degree and equivalent combination of experience required.
