Jordan Hospital Registered/Certified Pharmacy Technician in Plymouth, Massachusetts
Duties/Responsibilities:
Assists in the preparation of irrigation, intravenous admixture solutions, and other, using aseptic technique. (must be able to perform repetitive hand motions for IV Room assignments and prepacking.)
Fills unit dose, Automated Dispensing Machines (ADM), stock requisitions and maintain inventory levels in OR, Endo & OB.
Delivers unit dose, ADM refills, intravenous solution and necessary pharmaceutical supplies to the nursing units. (must be able to walk and/or stand for assigned shift)
Fills medication labels, subject to verification.
Prepares pre-packaged medications in commonly used quantities.
Assists with inventory control of supplies and medications. Receives and shelves supplies and medications. Performs cycle counts and monthly review of stock for expired medications.
Cleans pharmacy equipment, utensils and work areas.

Education/Experience Required:
Must be 18 years of age or older
Must have passed Board of Pharmacy Technician Registration exam; all requirements of Pharmacy Technician Trainee
Must know basic IV admixture processes as well as sterile procedures.
Must have good math, computer and communication skills.
Must have clear understanding of medication names (brand and generic), common dosing and sig codes, and medical terminology.
High School Diploma or equivalent
Registration/Certification:
Must be registered by the Massachusetts Board of Pharmacy as a Technician
Must be certified by the PTCB (Pharmacy Technician Certification Board). If not certified, must obtrain certification within 90 days of start.
Must maintain license from Board of Pharmacy and continuing education requirements for PTCB.
