Jordan Hospital Lead Technician - Registered & Certified in Plymouth, Massachusetts

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Ensures training, orientation, and competency of all pharmacy technicians. Provides remedial training as necessary.

  • Prepares pharmacist/technician schedules working closely with pharmacy management team.

  • Prepares payroll biweekly for manager/director approval.

  • Assists in preparation of irrigation, intravenous admixture solutions, chemotherapy, immunotherapy and other using aseptic technique.

  • Fills unit dose cassettes, Automated Dispensing System (ADS), stock requisitions, and maintain inventory levels in OR, Endo, and OB. Provides coverage when necessary for all technician functions.

  • Delivers unit dose cassettes, ADS refills, intravenous solution, and necessary pharmaceutical supplies to the nursing units.

  • Fills medication orders subject to final check by a pharmacist.

  • Prepares pre-packaged medications in commonly used quantities.

  • Assists with inventory control of supplies and medications. Receives and shelves supplies and medications. Maintains waste logs for accounting to assist the Pharmacy Buyer for end of month report.

  • Cleans pharmacy equipment, utensils, and work areas.

  • Works collaboratively with Pharmacy Management Team for all technician workflow processes & functions.

    Education/Experience Required:

  • Ability to read, write, and understand English at the 12th Grade level, follow orders, and written and illustrated instruction.

  • Ability to perform arithmetical computations (add, subtract, etc.).

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.

  • Keyboard skills at 30 WPM; calculator

  • Competency with Microsoft Word & Excel

  • Must know basic IV admixture processes as well as sterile procedures.

  • Must know IV Admixture processes & procedures for Non Hazardous Mixing as well as Hazardous mixing (Hazardous within 6 months of hire)

  • Supervisory experience preferred.

  • Complex scheduling experience preferred.

  • Pharmacy Technician experience of 5 years in a hospital and automated dispensing system experience.

  • Must have passed Board of Pharmacy Registration exam’ all requirements of Pharmacy Technician.

    Registration/Certification:

  • Must be registered by the Massachusetts Board of Pharmacy.

  • Must be certified by the PTCB (Pharmacy Technician Certification Board).

  • Must maintain license from Board of Pharmacy and continuing education requirements for PTCB.
