Jordan Hospital Food Service Supervisor in Plymouth, Massachusetts

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supervises opening &/or closing of Food & Nutrition Services Department; replaces absent personnel as appropriate.

  • Supervises patient and cafeteria meal delivery & service.

  • Ensures menus are ready for patient food service and oversees meal delivery.

  • Organizes diet office. Ensures proper flow of information to proper personnel.

  • Interacts with Clinical Dietitians regarding confidential patient information.

  • Utilizes computer programs appropriate to meal service, such as CBORD, Meditech, and hand-held meal tracking devices.

  • Tallies menu items for production.

  • Interacts with Cooks & Tray Line staff to ensure timely meal production & delivery.

  • Oversees daily tray retrieval & clean up, pantry deliveries, cafeteria operations.

  • Handles cash & runs daily cash register reports.

  • Enters daily tallies into software production for record keeping.

Experience/Knowledge/Skills Required

  • Minimum two (2) years food service experience in a healthcare setting.

  • Strong knowledge of nutrition & diet therapy as evidenced by education &/or work experience.

  • Previous supervisory experience required.

  • Proficient computer skills (Microsoft Word & Excel)

Education Required

  • Must be able to read, write English at 12th grade level.

  • Nutrition Education/Supervision coursework preferred.


  • Must be Serv-Safe certified within six (6) months of employment.
