Jordan Hospital Cardiology Manager - Non-Invasive in Plymouth, Massachusetts

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Daily supervision of Non Invasive Cardiology staff supporting the department operations including technologists, technicians, other clinical staff and administrative support staff.

  • Oversees and manages cardiology front desk reception and scheduling for cardiology testing, and office visits.

  • Works with hospital associated cardiology offices to build synergies, efficiencies and team work between cardiologist practices and the hospital. Supports referring physician practices and partners with these practices to build business relationships.

  • Works with Cardiology and Imaging team and other leaders in the organization.

  • Communicates with customers (patients, physicians) and initiates service recovery immediately when needed.

  • Coordinate procedural schedule with physician providers for cardiac stress testing, stress echocardiography, transesophageal testing vascular testing and other as needed.

  • Adjusts/plans and schedules to meet operational need. Monitors FTE’s and volume targeting benchmarks.

  • Monitors outpatient schedule to maximize operating revenue and improve patient satisfaction.

  • Assures appropriate staffing to meet testing needs and assigns according to competence and skill.

  • Responsible for patient flow. Uses LEAN methodology in evaluating waste/wasted time and re-work.

  • Manages non-productive time during operational hours to maximize work productivity. Assigns tasks to the meet needs of the department.

  • Performs payroll duties, enters and post staff schedules.

  • Promotes teamwork departmentally and inter-departmentally.

  • Assures emergency equipment check.

  • Serves as clinical contact for cardiovascular staff. Responsible for providing education and competencies.

  • Responsible for data integrity and documentation, including oversight of ICAEL and ICAVL accreditation. Reviews EMR and McKesson to ensure proper clinical documentation and interpretation completed in timely manner.

  • Monitors and optimizes workflow. Tracks report turnaround time and communicate with Medical Records department on outstanding reporting.

  • Supports unit compliance with regulatory and professional standards and unit based competencies.

  • Works with education department to develop educational programs to support the cardiovascular service lines, including BLS preparedness and certification.

  • Utilizes practice standards to direct staff in the implementation and practice according to standards.

  • Participates in the interviewing and disciplinary process with personnel.

  • Holds staff accountable for adhering to policies and procedures. Provides guidance and counseling to personnel in the department for non-compliance with hospital policies and protocols. Develops staff improvement plans and follows up on progress/goals in a timely manner.

  • Actively participates in information system upgrades , e.g., Meditech, McKesson (Chargemaster, Inventory, reporting for Echo, Vascular, Electrocardiology and Cardiac Stress, etc) and equipment upgrades as well as vendor supplied equipment and services.

  • Actively participates in the annual evaluation process.

  • Supports quality improvement utilizing national and state guidelines to improve patient outcomes. Assists in maintenance of Quality Scorecard and action planning to improve patient outcomes.

  • Notifies, initiates investigation and submits reports on unusual occurrences to the Director.

  • Develops and directs the orientation and clinical education programs for the Cardiovascular Testing departments and using hospital policies and procedures and national practice standards.

  • Serves as a professional role model and mentor to staff.

  • Assists Director in budget planning. Reports on budget to actual results, explains variances, monitors daily volumes and short and long term trends

  • Contributes to the creation and implementation of policies.

Education/Experience Required:

Bachelor’s Degree Required

3 years of management experience; progressive responsibilities

Registration/Certification:

ARDMS registered (RDCS and RVT)
