Job Description:

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Assists with inventory control of supplies and medications. Receives and shelves such supplies. Enters/scans data with software programs.

  • Main role is to purchase medications, pharmacy supplies, and business supplies for both the main pharmacy and oncology.

  • Maintain appropriate inventory levels

  • Processes all invoices, purchase orders, and proper credit on a routine schedule.

  • Tabulates data to properly submit monthly reports.

  • Fills unit dose cassettes, stock requisitions and maintain inventory levels.

  • Delivers unit dose cassettes, intravenous solution and necessary pharmaceutical supplies to nursing units.

  • Fills medication orders subject to final check by a pharmacist.

  • Prepares pre- packaged medications in commonly used quantities.

  • Cleans pharmacy equipment, utensils and work area.

  • Perform and assist with duties as a registered/certified technician when needed in central pharmacy.

Education/Experience Required:

  • High school diploma

  • Ability to perform arithmetical computations (add, subtract, etc.)

  • Must be 18 years of age or older

  • Keyboard skills at 30 wpm; calculator and computer skills.

  • Pharmacy Technician experience of 5 years in a hospital with buying experience.

  • Must have passed Board of Pharmacy Registration exam; all requirements of Pharmacy Technician Trainee.

Registration/Certification:

  • Must be registered by the Massachusetts Board of Pharmacy.

  • Must be certified by the PTCB (Pharmacy Technician Certification Board) or ExCPt.

  • Must maintain license from Board of Pharmacy and continuing education requirements for PTCB or ExCPt (if applicable).
