Open Sky Community Services Futures Youth Group Care - Occupational Therapist (20 Hours) in Northborough, Massachusetts

Salary

USD $29.81/Hr.

Description and Responsibilities

The Youth and Young Adult Group Residence and the Young Adult Supported Living programs support individuals (males and females) referred by the Department of Children and Families. The group residence serves seven young adults 17-22 years old while the supported living program serves two young adults 18-22 years old. The programs focus on building independent living skills and supporting the transition to young adulthood. Staff focus on goals such as living within a budget to save money, food shop and cook, do their own laundry, utilize transportation, complete an educational program, and obtain employment.

The Occupational Therapist will complete OT assessments of youth and young adults served within the person’s first thirty days, which will help inform individualized treatment plans. They select, implement, and make modifications to individualized therapeutic activities and interventions that are consistent with demonstrated competency levels, identified goals, and the requirements of the practice setting.

Other KeyResponsibilities:

  • Provide training and assistance with the development of community integration, instrumental activities of daily living and activities of daily living skills.

  • Provide individual and group treatments based on assessments while focusing on the areas of independent living skills such as employment/employment readiness, social skills, education, leisure activities, transportation, community safety, and obtaining benefits.

  • Identify sensory processing challenges and implement sensory diets and/or environmental adaptation as indicated.

  • Collaborate with evidence-based practice directors and division leadership teams to integrate Occupational Therapy interventions and theories with theories of the program such as DBT, IMR, TIP, in conjunction with the goals of the Person’s Treatment Plan.

Qualifications

  • Must be a registered and Licensed as a Occupational Therapist.

  • Previous experience working with youth and young adults with mental health challenges, required.

  • Valid Driver's License and acceptable driving history, required.
