CARDIOLOGY TECHNICIAN 2 - Exercise Physiologist Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehabilitation
Job Description:
Exercise Physiologist - Per Diem
The Exercise Physiologist in Cardiac Rehab provides expertise in cardiovascular specialty areas and will integrate the components of clinician, teacher, and researcher. Provides emergency care per policy.
Assists with the orientation and initial assessment of new patients. Assists in the development of the plan of care with other team members. Prepares and adjusts individual exercise prescriptions in accordance with ETT and physician recommendations on a regular basis.
Supervises exercise session, monitoring patients for inappropriate responses to exercise by virtue glucometer checks, telemetry monitoring and hemodynamics, reporting significant hypo-hyperglycemia, arrhythmia and abnormal hemodynamics to the physician supervisor. (EP/RCEP with ACLS).
Documents initial and daily assessment data into patient medical records.
Reviews patients' progress with other staff at weekly staff meetings.
Plans and educates patients regarding home exercise programs and use of equipment.
Provides educational programs for patients in area of expertise.
Keeps current in cardiac rehabilitation through continuing education conferences and literature.
Education:
- BS in Exercise Science, Exercise Physiology, Kinesiology, Human Performance, or related field
Work Experience:
- Internship in Cardiac or Pulmonary Rehab; Physical Therapy Aide; or other experience in other healthcare settings.
Licenses:
BLS required.
Registered Clinical Exercise Physiologist preferred (American College of Sports Medicine).
Specialized education or certification in cardiovascular clinical area preferred.
ACLS recommended.
Knowledgeable in basic arrhythmias and cardiac monitoring.
