Are you ready to become a part of our dynamic Central Sterile Team?

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Performs decontamination procedures according to prescribed specifications, in a safe and cost-effective manner. Is knowledgeable and adheres to universal precautions and the OSHA blood born pathogen standards when working in the area.

  • Cleans machines and decontamination work area daily. Maintains a clean and healthy work environment.

  • Safely operates all machinery used in the decontamination and, sterilization areas in accordance with departmental policies and procedures.

  • Assembles all instrumentation for sterilization according to policy and procedure and monitors quality assurance.

  • Maintains adequate supply levels of sterile stock for the sterile storage/case cart assembly area. Applies principles of rotation of stock, par level restocking and outdating of supplies.

  • Communicates concerns about equipment with Operating Room nurses responsible for specialty areas.

  • Maintains master file of instrument assembly sheets.

  • Responsible for observing proper safety precautions and careful monitoring of chemical use during all sterilization processes. Reports any suspected equipment malfunction or abnormality to a manger.

  • Maintains log books of all sterilization records and biological monitoring, maintains master file of instrument count sheets.

  • Assists in orientation of new employees to each work area and overall department operations.

  • Assists Manager in leadership role.

  • Maintains professional certification Assumes charge responsibilities when Manager is away.

  • Demonstrates appropriate assembly of specialty case carts for surgical procedures as pick lists required.

Scheduled Hours: 40 hrs/wk

Work Shift: Evening, 12 pm – 8 pm, weekend and holiday requirements 7a – 7p. Must be available to respond to 30-minute on-call policy. On-call, once fully staffed, is typically once a month depending on scheduled time off.

Education Required: High School Diploma or equivalent.

Required Licensure/Certifications: Certified Surgical Tech or CSP certification required.

Experience Preferred: 3-6 months instruments processing experience.
