Kennedy - Donovan Center, Inc. School Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in New Bedford, Massachusetts

Provide individualized, group and consultation services related to all aspects of student health and specialized medical needs, utilizing a team-based, multi-disciplinary approach. This position will work with our school and day habilitation programs in New Bedford, MA. Responsibilities: Participate as member of multi-disciplinary team in ensuring and promoting optimal health and safety for all students. Responsible for all aspects of medication administration. Develop student health plans, medical summaries and maintain updated medical records. Report, complete and maintain all documentation relating to student accidents. Administer first aid as needed. Supervise and monitor health and medical interventions implemented by nursing staff as assigned. Participate in development of Individual Education Plans. Work cooperatively/collaboratively with medical and other community providers to ensure coordination of health supports and services. Communicate with parents as needed regarding student health needs. Participate in hiring and provide orientation, training and ongoing supervision of nursing staff. Provide orientation and training in areas of health and safety to staff. Assist in outreach and program fundraising activities. Complete and maintain documentation as required by KDC and all applicable funding or regulatory agencies. Participate in professional development activities and training necessary to enhance skills and maintain certification. Ensure availability of appropriate specialized equipment for health and medical needs. Perform other job-related responsibilities as assigned. Qualifications: Graduate of accredited school of nursing. Experience with children with special needs. Demonstrated ability to effectively participate in multi-disciplinary team based approach. Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills. Supervisory experience.
