The Dental Assistant performs a variety of patient care, and office duties, and often works chair-side as dentists examine and treat patients. Dental Assistant prepares the operatory, makes patients as comfortable as possible in the dental chair, prepares them for treatment, and obtains their dental records. Essential Functions: Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the following essential functions. Prepares operatories for patient treatment by setting up with appropriate instruments and materials. Maintains a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations as well as adhering to infection control policies and protocols. Assists chair-side in all procedures, charts in patient records, and complete lab tasks. Maintains inventory of dental materials and supplies and assures that all equipment in the clinical areas remains functional. Responsible for disinfecting and sterilizing dental instruments, equipment and supplies within the clinical area. Re-sterilizes autoclave bags as needed. Cleans autoclave and runs spore tests by scrubbing and running the autoclave with a specific cleaner. Ensures machine is not used for a period of three hours during this time. Coordinates specialty referrals. Assists the dental hygienist as needed. Performs expanded function duties as required by supervisor. Excellent organizational and time management skills. 4. Bilingual Spanish and/or Portuguese preferred. What You Will Need: Education: High School graduate or equivalent. Experience: One year experience. Certification/Licensure: Current Massachusetts License to practice as a dental assistant required. Current CPR/AED certification required Dental radiology certification preferred
