Department Description:The Radiology Department at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital-Needham (BID Needham) offers a wide array of personalized services for our patients. We have short wait times and technologists whose top priority is accommodating you. As a community hospital, our staff offers a personal touch not always found at larger institutions. Our radiologists are members of the medical staff of the Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital-Needham and the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC) in Boston.
Job Location:Needham, MA
Job Summary:Under the general direction of the Manager of Radiology, performs a wide variety of specific and specialized duties, using independent judgment, ingenuity and initiative. This position requires knowledge of procedures and policies related to the Radiology Department and functions as part of a team. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to prioritize multiple competing tasks and demands and to seek managerial assistance when needed. Provides support to all technologists transporting and positioning of patients to and from Radiology.
Works as a technical assistant to the Radiology Technologists in all modalities to include positioning of patients, physical room set up, updating exam status in EMR, and assisting with patient care during contrast injections.
Serves as a ¿sitter¿ for any patients needing constant attention before and after their exam.
Completes appropriate safety courses, like MRI Personnel level 1, and works with the technologist to maintain safety in the Radiology environments.
Orders supplies for department. Monitors inventory of supplies.
Consistently demonstrates competence transporting patients to different departments as instructed.
Consistently responds to pages for transport and team member's needs in a timely manner.
Assists patient into wheelchairs or stretchers, maintaining patient safety and proper body mechanics.
Demonstrates responsibility for observation and application of sound judgment for patients' mental and physical condition and applies safety measures as necessary.
Delivers and retrieves equipment, including but not limited to stretchers, infusion pumps, wheelchairs as requested.
Receives, greets and directs patients, visitors and hospital personnel, providing appropriate responses in a friendly and courteous manner.
Some High School required, High School diploma or GED preferred
0-1 years related work experience required.
Basic familiarity with computers. Ability to navigate at a basic level within web-based applications.

Problem Solving:Ability to address problems that are routine, somewhat repetitive and generally solved by following clear directions and procedures and by identifying opportunities for process improvements.

Oral Communications:Ability to comprehend and converse in English to communicate effectively with medical center staff, patients, families and external customers.
Knowledge:Ability to demonstrate basic knowledge of fundamental concepts, practices and procedures with the ability to use them in routine situations. Specialized knowledge not required.
Team Work:Ability to interact respectfully with other employees, professional staff and/or external contacts to offer ideas, identify issues, obtain information or deliver services.
Customer Service:Ability to provide a high level of customer service to patients, visitors, staff and external customers in a professional, service-oriented, respectful manner using skills in active listening and problem solving. Ability to remain calm in stressful situations.

Physical Nature of the Job:
