Job Summary:

Assists with all activities of the OR including cleaning room in-between cases and cleaning of all equipment used during cases.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintains sterilizers by cleaning chambers and filters.

  • Performs required sterilizer QA tests such as biologicals.

  • Under the direction of the RN, transfers patients safely and provides lifting, turning and positioning support to include holding for preps and cast applications.

  • Assists with the application and removal of OR table safety straps.

  • Promptly responds to any patient needs including privacy, warmth and safety.

  • Performs skin preparations for procedures, as ordered, i.e. shave, scrub, etc.

  • Orders and restocks supplies for assigned areas of responsibility in the required timeframes.

  • Assists with all activities for OR room preparation and turn over between cases. Examples include, damp dusting of all horizontal equipment and OR lights prior to the first cases of the day; trash, linen and equipment removal from room and the cleaning of floors, furniture and equipment.

  • Keeps corridors and exits clear for emergency egress and keeps all equipment on one side of the corridors when necessary.

  • Assists with post mortem care.

  • Transports specimens to lab and pathology.

  • Obtains blood from Blood Bank.

    Qualifications:

  • High School graduate preferred

  • Previous experience as a Surgical Aide desired

  • BLS required

  • Strong work ethic

  • Strong communication skills

  • Strong interpersonal skills

  • Flexible with schedule

  • Team player
