The Patient Navigator/Registrar's primary purpose is to perform tasks related to efficient and effective patient flow in the urgent care center assuring the highest level of customer service. Greets and registers patients for Urgent Care services as they arrive at the facility. Duties include assisting nursing and provider staff with administrative support related to daily patient visits including phone calls, faxing and/or scanning to ensure immediate access to all information required for the patient visit. Responsible for entering patient orders into the hospital order entry system and for obtaining referrals and/or pre-authorizations. Provides direction to patients in preparation for examinations, tests and treatments. Maintains confidentiality of patient information, conduct her/himself in a professional and friendly manner, strictly follow HHS policies and work cooperatively and supportively with all other staff. High school education or equivalent required. Baccalaureate degree in health education, public health or other health related field preferred. 2-5 years of experience in health care delivery. Prior medical office experience preferred. Knowledge of medical terminology and third party billing preferred. Good verbal and written communication skills; ability to multi-task, work accurately and efficiently in a busy health care environment. Must be able to problem solve and troubleshoot patient issues; must be computer literate and possess knowledge of office practices.
