Wellforce Infection Prevention Specialist, RN in Medford, Massachusetts

  • Position Summary:

  • The Infection Prevention & Control Specialist is responsible for the identification of infectious disease processes, surveillance and epidemiologic investigation, prevention and control of the transmission of infectious agents, educational activities to assure the adoption of infection control practices, data management related to HAI prevention and outcome measures and management activities such as participation in developing the infection risk assessment, development of the infection prevention and control program plan, and communication of infection prevention and control findings, recommendations, practice changes. The Infection Prevention & Control Specialist is responsible for organization wide compliance with accreditation and regulatory standards that relate to infection prevention and control, such as: The Joint Commission, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Conditions of Participation, Massachusetts Department of Public Health, the Centers for Disease Prevention and Control, the Occupational Safety and Health Association, the National Health and Safety Network and local Public Health agencies. The Infection Prevention & Control Specialist is an active participant in the Emergency Preparedness program as it relates to infectious agents such as pandemic flu.

  • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

  • EDUCATION:

  • Master of Science degree in healthcare, nursing or behavioral science preferred.Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Valid Massachusetts RN license. Current Certification in Infection Prevention and Control (CIC) preferred. Candidates who do not possess CIC must obtain it within 1 year of hire.

  • EXPERIENCE:

  • At least three to five years of inpatient/clinical/OR/NHSN experience.

  • SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Proficient in Windows-based operating software and systems that include MS Word, MS Excel, MS Access and MS PowerPoint. Excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills required.Effective interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills, with an ability to express and document situations and processes and conduct education using media assisted presentations.Highly motivated, success oriented, organized and strong work ethic, with ability to work under minimal supervision, ability to adapt quickly to changes within the work environment required.Must be a team player and have proven success applying a team approach and ability to work in conjunction with physicians, clinical managers, directors, and front-line staff in a supportive way to troubleshoot and resolve issues. Is able to address difficult situations with tact and diplomacy.
