The Department of Medicine, Division of Occupational and Environmental Medicine seeks a Medical Office Coordinator to perform general secretarial and administrative duties for the GE Aviation Employee Health & Wellness Center in Lynn, MA.
The Medical Office Coordinator ensures smooth functioning of office and good patient relations. Interacts with GE Aviation employees and contractors, employee families, outside physicians and GE Aviation Medical Director with regards to patient related issues. Works with others in team Environment. Receives patients and visitors to clinic and accepts telephone calls.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
Register employees/patients presenting to EH & W center. Enter patient registration information into EMR and update as necessary.
Maintains calendar, schedules and appointments. Answers telephone, screens callers, relays messages and greets visitors. Opens, sorts and screens mail.
Operates personal computer to access email, electronic calendars and other basic office support software.
Maintains office supplies and waiting area in good standards.
Assist with lab requisition completion. General assistance to clinicians as requested.
Type routine correspondence as requested.
High school education or GED required
Two or more years of related experience
Additional education may be substituted for years of related experience.
Medical terminology preferred Additional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Excellent keyboard skills
Excellent communication skills
Familiarity with Audiogram testing
Familiarity with Spirometry testing Technical Qualifications or Specialized Certifications:
Urine Drug Screen Collector Certification preferred
Breath Alcohol Technician Certification preferred

During the Influenza ("the flu") season, as a condition of employment, The Johns Hopkins Institutions require all employees who provide ongoing services to patients or work in patient care or clinical care areas to have an annual influenza vaccination or possess an approved medical or religious exception. Failure to meet this requirement may result in termination of employment.
The pre-employment physical for positions in clinical areas, laboratories, working with research subjects, or involving community contact requires documentation of immune status against Rubella (German measles), Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Varicella (chickenpox), Hepatitis B and documentation of having received the Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) vaccination. This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing. Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers. Any vaccinations required for these diseases will be given at no cost in our Occupational Health office.
