About the Organization
The Lynn Turbofan Turbojet Engineering section provides technical leadership in the Systems and Design Engineering disciplines for the F414 and F404 product lines. Program responsibilities span the entire engineering lifecycle including New Product Introduction (NPI) programs and Sustaining programs for operational fleets. Current NPI programs include the F404-103 for the USAF Advanced Pilot Trainer, the F404-104 for the Hurjet Trainer, the F414-400K for the KF-21, and the F414-100 for NASA’s X-59 demonstrator. The Sustaining programs include production delivery, services engineering, and component improvement programs in support of the flying fleet of US Navy and international operators. The engineering team is dedicated to providing safe and reliable operation of the F414 and F404 engines in support of the Mission of our customers … and continuing to be the engine of choice in this thrust class.
About the Position
The Mechanical Systems Advanced Lead Engineer is responsible for design and development of mechanical systems components. You will be exposed to a broad range of technical problem solving throughout the F414/F404 engine lines, developing an understanding of the interactions between the lubrication system as it pertains to other modules as well as bearings, gearing, and structural hardware. Hardware ownership responsibilities include analysis, design & tollgate reviews, manufacturing reviews, supplier investigations, processing of Changes in Design (CID), Requests for Proposals (RFP) and more.

Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
Execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements. This work would include mechanical engineering for all products.
Utilizes in-depth knowledge of a technical discipline and analytical thinking and technical experience to execute policy/strategy.
Has knowledge of best practices and how own area integrates with others; is aware of the aerospace industry and the factors that differentiate them in the market.
Uses some judgment and has some ability to propose different solutions outside of set parameters to address more complicated manufacturing processes with technical variety and/or interdependent production cycles. Uses technical experience and analytical thinking. Uses multiple internal and limited external sources outside of own teams to arrive at decisions.
Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience. May lead small projects with low risks and resource requirements. Explains information; developing skills to bring team members to consensus around topics within field. Conveys performance expectations and may handle sensitive issues.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's or advanced degree in engineering from an accredited university or college
Minimum of 3 years' experience in design engineering
Desired Characteristics
Bachelor’s or advanced degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering from an accredited college or university.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in a mechanical design or similar engineering position.
Demonstrated expertise in design and analysis tools, such as Unigraphics/NX, ANSYS classic.
Experience and familiarity with GD&T principles and reading drawings.
Experience in manufacturing high-precision, turbomachinery components.
Strong leadership skills, with the ability to influence others and lead small teams.
Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to analyze & solve technical design challenges with sound documentation, planning, & program management skills.
Ability to independently organize, document, plan and execute simultaneous projects while aligning with business priorities.
Familiarity with and ability to leverage FLIGHT DECK, GE Aerospace's proprietary LEAN operating model.
Ability to thrive in ambiguity.
