Athena Health Care Systems Speech Therapist in Lowell, Massachusetts

We are hiring full-time and part-time Speech Therapists to join our dynamic care team at Northwood Rehabilitation & Health Care Center in Lowell!

Weekly pay! Monday-Friday opening.

As a Speech Therapist, you provide patient/resident assessment, care planning, direct treatment and consultation to a general rehab caseload; participate in the clinical team process; provide teaching and training to care giver staff; and supervise other assistants, aides and students as required.

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor of Science or Master of Science Degree in Speech Therapy.

  • Current licensure by the applicable state agency.

  • Two (2) years of clinical experience in long term care preferred.

  • CEU’s per state licensure requirements.

    Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Screens patients/residents.

  • Evaluates patients/residents and develops appropriate care plans.

  • May perform additional assigned administrative duties such as: assigning and overseeing resident care activities, medical record oversight, assuring execution of physician orders, ordering supplies, etc.

  • Under a physician’s order, provides direct resident treatments in accordance with an established plan of care. Treatment venue includes individual, supervised and group.

  • Contributes to the team meeting and decision-making process as defined by the program.

  • Consults with and trains patients/residents and caregivers.

  • Monitors efficiencies on an ongoing basis in collaboration with supervisor.

  • Documents activities according to the company’s clinical documentation system on a timely basis.

  • Demonstrates consistent knowledge and application of Medicare and other reimbursement regulations.

  • Communicates effectively with patients, residents, team members, customers and supervisor.

  • Participates in clinical program development and implementation.

  • Participates in the training and orientation of other staff.

  • Demonstrates ability for continuous new learning to remain current in the field.

  • Complies with facility Privacy Practices policies and procedures and protects residents’ individual health information.

  • May perform additional duties as requested by supervisor.

  • Participates in quality improvement activities.

  • Responsible for service and operational excellence of all assigned activities to ensure the delivery of quality services and/or outcomes required to meet or exceed the expectations of those utilizing or impacted by the department.

    Specific Requirements:

  • Ability to function effectively in multi-faceted systems and to interact effectively with all levels of staff and customers.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

  • Strong organizational and analytical skills.

  • Standing and walking for significant amounts of time is necessary.

  • Excellent hearing and verbal skills required for directing staff, customer relations, and marketing activities.

  • Manual dexterity required for documentation needs, manipulations of equipment and for direct patient care.

  • Requires intense attention and concentration.

  • Ability to cope with periodic stress associated with changing census and staffing demands.

  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage time effectively for self and others.

  • Ability to deal with a wide range of personality types, ages, and diverse cultural backgrounds.

  • Ability to articulate and comprehend the English language.
