Unit Summary: The Oncology Care Unit (OCU) is a critical care, 16-bed acute medical unit with a primary focus on Oncology/Hematology. The OCU consists of 2 private rooms and 7 semi-private rooms. We care for adult acute care patients who have a wide variety of diagnoses and co-morbidities providing comprehensive care according to the scope of care defined by the hospital, Massachusetts Nurse Practice Act, American Nurses Association scope and Standards of Practice, and Quality Caring framework and professional practice model at Lowell General Hospital.
OCU specializes in the administration of chemotherapy, care of the Oncology patient, care and comfort of terminally ill patients and their families and care of patients requiring telemetry monitoring.
Hours: 36 hours: 7am - 330pm
The Staff nurse individualizes the patients care and provides complete connected patient centered care while promoting quality and safety. The Staff nurse will work with a multidisciplinary team to ensure patient needs are identified and met. This candidate must show enthusiasm, have excellent communication skills and strive for patient satisfaction and a positive patient experience. With specialized training nurses administer chemotherapy, implement new methods of symptom treatment and monitor their patients' progress in a supportive environment.

Graduate of accredited nursing program, BSN preferred, or enrolled in BSN program with anticipated graduation date
Massachusetts RN required
Must have excellent time management and customer service skills
Telemetry experience preferred, will train if needed
ONS chemotherapy biotherapy provider an advantage
Medical Surgical Certification an advantage
