Wellforce Emergency Medical Technician in Lowell, Massachusetts
POSITION SUMMARY: Direct patient care contact in the prehospital setting, Emergency department, hospital patient care units, and during ambulance transport. Ability to accept patient care directives/orders from hospital physicians, nursing staff, and Lowell General Hospital EMS leadership. Cares for patients and conducts clinically appropriate patient care and ambulance transport in accordance with established hospital policies and Massachusetts Statewide Treatment Protocols. Understands and accepts that all responsibilities are essential to job function. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Administers skilled care to patients being transported between hospitals
Administers skilled care as directed by Lowell General nursing staff
Obtains medical history and monitors vital signs during patient contact
Prepare patients for transport and clinically monitors patient to maintain stability
Demonstrates competence in use of assigned equipment
Respond to a wide range of transport situations
Complies with all health and safety regulations
Established competence in safe ambulance operations
Clinically accurate patient care documentation
EMTs should routinely access and utilize Lowell General Hospital EMS leadership for any circumstance where advanced direction is needed or may assist with proper execution of job responsibilities DEPARTMENT SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
Professionally represents Lowell General Hospital and Lowell General Hospital Emergency Medical Services.
Adheres to established hospital and department specific policies and procedures
Maintains required up to date national, state, and local certification and licensure
Completes department specific training as outlined by Medical Director and EMS department director
Demonstrates use of quality improvement in daily operations
Professional inter-personal communication skills required
Notify Lowell General EMS leadership (medical director, EMS director, Clinical Leader or on duty Charge Paramedic) in event of any circumstance where EMT requires additional assistance or advance direction including but not limited to: Patient adversely affected during care, incidents involving ambulance operations, injury to EMS providers, or challenging inter personal interactions with internal/external patient care providers
QUALIFICATIONS:
High School Diploma or GED required, some college or Associate’s Degree Preferred
National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT)
Certified EMT Massachusetts EMT-Basic certification, EMT-Advanced preferred
American Heart Association Basic Cardiovascular Life Support
Active Massachusetts Driver’s License (in good standing)
1-3 year of experience
