Wellforce Cytotechnologist in Lowell, Massachusetts
Position Summary:
The Cytotechnologist microscopically examines and diagnoses GYN cytology slides, and screens non-GYN cytology slides. Attends and assists with specimen processing of fine needle aspirate cases.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Accurately identifies specimens and slides per policy.
Accurately performs microscopic evaluation of cytological specimens, maintaining GYN discrepancy rates within acceptable levels, and correlating observed findings with patient age and provided information.
Attends and assists with specimen processing of fine needle aspirate cases, ensuring slides of high quality are produced. Maintains FNA cart and supplies.
Participates in CAP educational activities for GYN and non-GYN case types.
Effectively communicates status of workload to supervisor.
Demonstrates proficient use of the Laboratory Information System.
Successfully performs annual proficiency testing in accordance with CLIA requirements.
Qualifications:
Graduate from an Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES), accredited school of cytotechnology or other organization approved by HHS
1-3 years of experience
CT(ASCP) required
Thin Prep certification preferred
