Novo Nordisk Senior Analytical Scientist I - Drug Product Research in Lexington, Massachusetts

The Position

Novo Nordisk is seeking a highly motivated analytical scientist to join its Advanced Drug Delivery team in Lexington, Massachusetts. The candidate will be responsible for the analytical method development and characterization of peptides, proteins, small molecules, oligonucleotides, and advanced drug delivery platforms. This position will support therapeutic programs in multiple disease areas and will contribute to the development of novel drug delivery platforms.

Relationships

This position reports to the Head of Advanced Drug Delivery (Drug Product Research).

Essential Functions

  • Utilize subject matter knowledge in analytical chemistry to develop and verify analytical methods to quantify and characterize peptides, proteins, small molecules, and oligonucleotide drug substances, drug products, and advanced drug delivery platforms

  • Evaluate and implement new analytical technologies and methods to advance current analytical capabilities for drug product testing with a focus on state-of-the-art separation sciences capabilities

  • Generate key analytical data packages by applying HPLC, UPLC, LCMS, GCMS, SEC-MALs, and other instrumental analysis techniques

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the selected dosage form meets the desired chemical attributes of the lead candidate and contribute to the early screening strategies and execution

  • Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot analytical lab instruments including HPLCs and UPLCs

  • Conduct laboratory work in safe, efficient manner that ensures a safe working environment for colleagues

    Qualifications

  • BS/BA with 10+ years of relevant experience; or Master’s degree with 8+ years of relevant experience; or PhD with 4+ years’ of relevant experience required

  • Strong knowledge and skills in molecular biology, genetic engineering, and protein chemistry

  • Experience in experimental planning and execution, including bioprocess or chemical manufacturing innovation

  • Excellent scientific communication skills
