Lawrence General Hospital CDI DRG Validator in Lawrence, Massachusetts
The Clinical Documentation Improvement DRG Validator is responsible for facilitating improvement in the overall quality, completeness and accuracy of medical record documentation, as well as obtaining and promoting appropriate clinical documentation through extensive interaction with physicians, nursing staff, other patient caregivers, risk management & quality and the Health Information Services coding staff in order to ensure clinical documentation reflects the severity of the patient’s illness, patient safety related conditions and results in appropriate and compliant DRG assignment reimbursement. Educates members of the coding and CDI staff on nationally approved coding guidelines on an ongoing basis, as well as complete reviews of CC/MCC cases and severity/mortality measures under MS and All Payer DRGs (APR-DRGs) for compliance with the CMS Inpatient Prospective Payment System, Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS), Mass Medicaid (Mass Health), Harvard Pilgrim and Tufts Contracts.
Requirements include: Certified CCS, RHIT or RHIA inpatient coding & DRG specialist with a minimum of three years acute care hospital coding & multi-grouper DRG experience, as well as hospital CDI experience; or graduation from an accredited program of nursing and a minimum of three years ICU/CCU or Medical/Surgical experience, current RN license with CDI experience.
