Description: The HPS Excelsior Program is for students in grades PK- 12 who qualify for extended year services per their IEP?s. The goal of the program is to prevent regression of learned skills during the Summer months. Locations are at Donahue School (location still being finalized; 1), Lawrence School (1), Transitions Academy (1) Jericho (2), Classroom based or 1:1 Nurse (TBD depending on students? IEP needs and/or program needs. All staff and students are expected to be in person for all of ESY. The HPS Excelsior Program will begin on Monday 7/10/23 and end on Thursday 8/3/23 from 9:00am-1:00pm. The weeks in between will operate Monday through Thursday. Staff Orientation will occur on Wednedsday 6/28/23 (required), with option to work on Thursday 6/29/23 as well. Some ESY Nurses might also have the opportunity to support pre-planning work responsibilities prior to the start of ESY. ESY Summer Nurse manages the health matters of students attending ESY Programming during the hours of program operation. The nurse reports to the ESY RN Lead and the Special Education Director of Intensive Services PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: Provides first aid to children, care for students who have suffered an injury or medical emergency; Dispenses prescribed medications in accordance with school policy and physician orders; Performs medical treatments/procedures as indicated by the students\' health care providers and in accordance with district policies, procedures and guidelines; Maintains electronic health records, IHCPs, EAPs and ensures proper documentation is in place for summer attendance; Maintains confidentiality as mandated by MA regulations; Ensures the health, well-being and day-to-day safety of all program participants; Provides onsite services that may include prevention and emergency health services; Performs other duties reasonably related to his/her function, as assigned. WORK ENVIRONMENT: These positions are performed inside schools, Jericho Camp site and/or outside setting where the environmental conditions should have no effect on how the jobs are performed. **Hiring will occur on a staggered basis throughout the next few months, based on student enrollment** **All hired staff must be willing and flexible to abide by the most current state and district COVID-19 guidelines** REQUIREMENTS: Registered Nurse, School Nurse Certification preferred Licensed Practical Nurse, pediatric/school experience preferred Current CPR certification Experience working in an urban setting, preferred Experience working with diverse student populations, preferred Bilingual applicants (Spanish) strongly encouraged to apply Other duties as assigned Primary Location PUPIL SERVICES Salary Range \$80 - \$80 / PER DIEM/ TEMPORARY Shift Type Summer
