Description:As a residential care facility – also called a rest home –Beaven Kelly Homeprovides the best of both worlds. Our residents are free to come and go as they please, and they have the structure and reassurance of around-the-clock assistance from a professional nursing and support staff, if they need it.

We also offerrespite carefor elders, providing temporary relief for their regular caregivers.

JOB SUMMARY:

Plans and coordinates a broad recreational program in accordance with facility regulatory agencies to meet the specialized needs of elder residents while compassionately considering the physical, psychosocial limitations of residents. Such program shall include organized activities planned to encourage participation and promote an atmosphere of mental and physical stimulation and motivation. Observes resident reactions to activities for signs of progress or regression.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

Demonstrates, promotes and integrates the Trinity Health Senior Communities Mission and Core Values by:

  1. Participates in the development of a full range of therapeutic recreational programs and activities for all residents with consideration for the resident’s physical, psychological and emotional limitations and individual interests.

  2. Participates in inter-disciplinary team meetings to enhance holistic and quality care of residents.

  3. Facilitates Resident Council to comply with Resident Rights Regulations.

  4. Makes recommendations to annual department budget process; works within budgetary guidelines, without compromising resident care.

  5. Assists in the hiring, supervision and evaluation of the departmental staff performance that ensures compliance with all policies, procedures and regulations.

  6. Follows all safety, security, infection control and hazardous materials policies and procedures; performs all tasks to assure resident and personal safety and protection of co-worker and facility property.

  7. Maintains high standards of employee conduct in accordance with applicable Federal, State, Local and SPHS regulations.

  8. Annually attends all required educational programs i.e. resident Rights/Safety/Right to Know Law; Blood Borne Pathogens and CSR in-services to comply with Department of Public Health Regulations (150.006 (G).

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  1. Work requires the knowledge of theories, principles and concepts normally acquired through completion of a Therapeutic Recreation Certification or sufficient maturity, social and computer skills as acquired by a high school diploma with a demonstrable knowledge of handicrafts, games and exercise routines.

  2. Exhibits interest, enthusiasm and patience in motivating elders. Requires at least one-year experience working in a long-term care setting or training in directing group activity.

  3. Must have current and valid driver’s license.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  1. Requires light moderate physical effort and movement on a regular basis. Frequent standing, walking, bending, stooping, reaching, pushing and pulling.

  2. Occasional exposure to injury or occupational or contagious disease hazards requiring routine precautions.

  3. Irregularity in scheduled hours due to weekend/holiday programs and/or events. Stress due to workload pressure and to resident demands.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:

  1. Reports to Administrator.

  2. May have responsibility for leading/supervising departmental assistants.
