About the Job

Position Summary: Under the direction of the Manager of Health Information Management, the Release of Information Coordinator is responsible for the timely and accurate response to all requests for copies of medical record documentation.

  • Supervises all requests for information coming into a particular hospital within Northeast Hospital Corporation.

  • Is privy to confidential and sensitive information and upholds the strictest of confidentiality policies every day.

  • Coordinates release of information with other hospital sites and provider practices as applicable.

  • Understands and stays current with federal and state laws regarding release of protected information.

  • Understands healthcare law and regulation as it pertains to Health Care Proxys, Living Wills, all Powers of Attorneys, Search Warrants, Wills, all Guardianships, the Cures Act, CFRs and Adoption.

  • Understands and uses hospital computers, devices and systems in an appropriate and efficient manner.

  • Adheres to Department, Hospital and Human Resource Policies.

  • Performs other duties as required. Essential Functions:

  • Medical terminology

  • Knowledge of Joint Commission, CMS, DPH documentation regulations; and Medical Staff Bylaws and Department documentation standards

  • Knowledge of federal and state laws and regulations pertaining to patient confidentiality.

Scheduled Hours

40 hours per week, day shift. Primary location for this position is in Beverly.

Qualifications

Education/Experience:

  • High school graduate or equivalent

  • Associates or higher degree preferred

  • Previous Health Information Management and medical record experience preferred

  • Computer skills; Microsoft Office, Google, Epic and Meditech experience desirable
