Description

Fenway Health’s Access: Drug User Health Program has a consulting opportunity for a licensed Clinical Supervisor to provide trauma-informed group and individual clinical counseling and support for staff who work on the front lines of harm reduction programs for people who use drugs. The Clinical Supervisor will provide therapeutic support to staff working in a harm reduction setting, addressing the emotional, mental, and psychological challenges they may face in their roles. This position is designed to enhance staff well-being, resilience, and capacity to provide client-centered care in often high-stress and emotionally demanding environments. The Clinical Supervisor will facilitate regular support groups and provide a safe, confidential space for staff to process their experiences, prevent burnout, and build coping strategies.

Group clinical supervision sessions will be held on regular monthly schedule and will be held within typical business hours: Monday-Friday between 9am-5pm. Sessions can be held either on site at our Cambridge, MA location or virtually through Zoom.

Consultant will receive a 1099 for services rendered. Not eligible for Fenway's benefits package.

Primary responsibilities may include the following:

Group Facilitation:

  • Plan, organize, and facilitate 2 hours per month of therapeutic group sessions for Access: Drug User Health Program Staff

  • Create a safe, non-judgmental environment where staff can openly discuss their experiences, challenges, and successes.

  • Address topics such as stress management, burnout, trauma, self-care, boundary setting, and emotional resilience.

  • Uphold the confidentiality of group and individual clinical sessions according to state and federal privacy laws and professional standards

Support Staff Wellness:

  • Provide emotional and psychological support to staff, helping them process the impact of working with clients in crisis or experiencing substance use disorders.

  • Encourage self-care and wellness practices to improve staff mental health and job satisfaction.

  • Assist staff in developing coping strategies for dealing with compassion fatigue, secondary trauma, and professional challenges.

Crisis Management:

  • Offer up to 2 hours of individual or group support for staff dealing with acute stress or workplace crises.

Collaborative Consultation:

  • Work closely with program leadership to identify recurring themes or challenges in the workplace that may be impacting staff morale or mental health.

  • Provide insights and recommendations to improve the overall emotional well-being of the team.

  • Collaborate with HR and other relevant departments to align group therapy efforts with organizational wellness initiatives.

Requirements

Education

  • Master’s Degree in Social Work (MSW), Psychology, Counseling, or a related field (required).

  • Clinical licensure (LCSW, LPC, LMFT, or equivalent) in good standing (required). Clinical License does not have to be for Massachusetts.

Experience

  • Minimum 3 years of experience providing group therapy, with a focus on trauma, burnout prevention, and stress management.

  • Experience working in or supporting staff in high-stress environments such as harm reduction, behavioral health, social services, or crisis intervention programs.

Skills

  • Strong understanding of harm reduction principles and the unique challenges faced by staff working in this field.

  • Expertise in group facilitation, stress management, and trauma-informed care.

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and conflict-resolution skills.

  • Ability to create a safe and supportive space for staff to explore their feelings and experiences.
